Minshull United Reformed Church is the fourth smallest church in the United Reformed Synod of Merseyside. It was the smallest until the membership of other churches decreased or they closed.
Now we have Rev. Murray George as our minister, who is completely different, with past experience in rural churches. He also has interesting ways of doing things in church which we welcome.
Murray’s message to us all for this month can be found when you choose ‘Jesus’.
Five years ago we were Barrie, Bryan, Derek, Elizabeth, Evelyn, Jean, Jenny, Joyce, May, Mim and Peter.
Next time we are all at church, with somebody to take the photograph and a camera, we shall replace this photo.
We still contribute to the church life in our own special way and help each other.
We believe that Jesus, Son of the God who created the world, lived on earth to show us how to live, died on a cross so that our wrongdoings could be forgiven, and rose again because God is stronger than death. Some of that is hard to understand, as are many parts of the Bible, and we frequently fail to live the way Jesus showed us. However, we are doing our best and always appreciate help.
A Prayer for the Church
Father, we ask you to renew in us each day the gift of service to others. Please help us to find in each act or decision the things that will honour you and give glory to your name.
We ask you, Father, to stir our wills so that we may learn to give to your work and to people in need. We ask for the guidance of your Holy Spirit in everything that we do.
We pray that we may grow closer and closer to you in our thoughts and in our actions, sharing your love with all people that we meet. Father, please help us to understand your word so that we can know you and love you more and more each day.
Merciful Father, we ask you to protect our homes, our families and friends. We think especially of those who are ill, anxious, in trouble or in danger, who need your strength and comfort. Thank you for their love and may we have good relationships with them all. Amen
